Current volunteering opportunities

We begin 2022 with a flurry of activity at the Foundation with all our projects busy and bringing meaningful activity, a strong support system, tailored teaching and new opportunities to our trainees.   

In order to deliver our aims, we have bank of wonderful volunteers who dedicate their time to complete specific tasks or assist within our projects helping people with learning disabilities learn new skills.

New opportunities have become available for volunteers to join The Emily Jordan Foundation. 

Shop Assistant (x 5)

The Shop is based at The Twigs project in the corner of Brinton Park and requires manning through peak times 10:00 - 14:30 Monday - Friday.

We are looking for 5 volunteers to each commit 1 day a week, however should you be able to do more we’ll happily discuss this. 

Duties will include: 

  • Liaising with customers 

  • Taking payments

  • Arranging the display of items for sale

  • Organising the shop

During quieter times there will be flexibility to help with other tasks taking place within the Twigs project. 

The shop sells craft, pottery, plants and woodwork items created by trainees. 

This is an ideal vacancy for someone who is looking a new challenge and is pro-active. In return, you’ll meet lots of new people, build friendships, be serving your community and boost your self-esteem and confidence.

Driver (x 3)

We’re looking for 3 x volunteers who can dedicate 2-3 hours per week to drive our van to collection points to collect bikes and plastics and return them to the unit.  Some light lifting will be required to load the items into the van.

The hours are flexible to fit within your schedule.

For insurance purpose, you must be age 25 or over and hold a valid UK driving licence. 

Go Green Volunteer (x2) 

A volunteering position has arisen within Go Green, our recycling project. This role is working on a  1-2-1 basis with the trainees to support them with completing the tasks and learning new skills. 

They work independently on a range of recycling and light manufacturing tasks and to achieve this they require a nurturing, calm environment that works at their pace. 

We are looking for an individual who is chatty, approachable and empathetic to fit into our Go Green project, strike a bond and build a rapport with the trainees and who can encourage them achieve. 

No previous care background is required, just a can-do attitude and cheerful demeanour. 

The hours for this vacancy are 09:00 - 15:00 however we’re open to accepting 2 x volunteers each covering half days.
