Supporting people with learning
disabilities to lead fulfilled lives
About Wood Works
Wood-Works manufactures wooden products from bird boxes and flower troughs to log stores and bespoke items. We have invested in new tools and jigs to enable people to participate and produce high quality goods at affordable prices.
People with learning disabilities are encouraged to get involved in all the different aspects of manufacturing products. This includes sanding, painting and screwing the products together and serving customers.
Wood-Works provides practical experience of using hand tools and equipment to assemble wooden products, moving from pre-cut kits to making products from a planned design. They also learn about the health and safety aspects of using equipment and gaining new skills. The finished wooden products are sold to the public from our at site at Brinton Park and at fetes during the year.
Where are we based?
Wood-Works operates from the corner of Brinton Park, sharing our Twigs site. This works well as the wooden products compliment our horticultural products. We sell:

We provide both high quality training opportunities to trainees and a good service to the general public.

Our approach has worked very well and feedback from people attending the service describe their experience as positive. The trainees have greatly benefited from being supported to develop new skills in an outdoor environment working alongside their friends and peers.
Trainees are welcome to 'mix' their days with other activities offered by The Foundation. Free taster sessions are available.
