EJF secures a new contract with Bewdley Town Council

day services for adults with learning disabilities Kidderminster

Bewdley Town Council recently commissioned The Emily Jordan Foundation to restore the town’s benches which have come into disrepair from water damage during winter floods as well as general wear and tear.

There are 25 benches along the riverside and throughout the town which will be refurbished and repaired during a rolling contract which sees approximately 6 benches restored per year.

The benches are collected and disassembled at the Emily Jordan Foundation Wood Works Project, Brinton Park, Kidderminster where they are sanded down and teak oiled by supervised trainees. This process allows trainees to hone skills they have learned within the project, develop new practices and proudly participate in a commissioned project.

Whilst the Wood Works team restore the timber, the metal ends of the benches are sent to Black Country Blasters in Stourbridge for blasting, then moved to R&M Metal Finishing Ltd for powder coating before they are reassembled and returned to Bewdley to be placed back in situ.

Ruth Krivosic, CEO said, “Restoring the benches for the town of Bewdley is a great opportunity it aligns nicely with the aims of the foundation supporting the trainees to work within their local community. They have thoroughly enjoyed it!”

This project demonstrated how the Foundation works with town councils and local businesses.

Our teams are always looking for new opportunities with local companies for with learning disabilities to get involved. To discuss working with The Emily Jordan Foundation, please call us on 01562 861154
