Ground Maintenance Team refurbish pirate ship in the park

The Emily Jordan Foundation Ground Maintenance Team have refurbished a pirate ship in the children’s play area in Riverside North Park, restoring it back to its former glory after it was defaced by graffiti.

Bewdley Town Council contracted the Ground Maintenance Team following the success of other restoration projects we’ve successfully completed in the past and our team set to work and achieved a fantastic result.

After a graffiti removal kit was ineffective, the team rubbed down the effected wooden areas with coarse sand paper, followed by fine sandpaper and polished the pirate ship with T-Cut.  It was a time consuming process but very effective and the pirate ship now stands proudly in the park for local children to safely enjoy.

The Emily Jordan Foundation Ground Maintenance Team comprises of a team of people with learning disabilities who are employed to complete tasks/contracts outsourced from individual companies or organisations.

The Foundation has several work based contracts under way, where people with learning disabilities perform operations such as mowing, strimming, leaf blowing and litter picking. They have all had the necessary training for these operations and are supported where necessary.
